Question by datchik: IVF and insurance question?
i have IVF insurance coverage through my employer, and i really want to try this since its the only way i can conceive because of 2 ectopic pregnancies. im not married, but do have a wonderful guy. we’ve been together for 11yrs, and im ready to start a family. im ready to get married, but he keeps feeding me lines about i dont really want to be with him because everything is about me and not about us. im 29 yrs old, my clock is ticking, and i dont want to miss out on a chance of becomming a mother because he wants to prove a point. after the 2nd ectopic pregnancy, and finding out that ivf was the only option, he was excited bout trying ivf. now that i have insurance coverage, its like he can care less. i feel like it was all good to him that i couldnt get pregnant, and i sit around worrying how we could get money saved for it, but now that i have coverage, he gets mad that i bring it up. would i be wrong to go ahead and do ivf without him, would my insurance pay for me alone.
do i need to be married first? if go alone, will they use a donor instead of my fiance?
when i mention ivf, he sits there as if i havent said anything….then im like, did you hear me. his reponse is, well, its on you. he’s contradicting himself, if he thinks everything is about me, but in turn says its all on me.

As far as the coverage goes, call the number on the back of the card. I think you should find a IVF support group and get opinions there. Good luck!
